Small Business Owners Cite Paid Leave and Child Care as Critically Needed Investments in NEW survey

Main Street Alliance released results of its latest pop member survey today showing critical need and support for investments in care infrastructure including paid leave and child care support as part of the recovery packages.
With 15 industries represented across 24 states, over 120 small business owners shared their challenges with the lack of a comprehensive, national paid leave program and affordable child care as well as priorities for investment in the upcoming recovery packages.

On President Biden’s Executive Order on Promoting Competition in the American Economy, Main Street Alliance Executive Co-Directors Chanda Causer and Stephen Michael had this to say:
“President Biden's executive order today addresses key concerns on competition we hear from small business owners across the country. This important action moves us closer to real solutions to combat increased corporate consolidation and levels the playing field against monopolistic market practices.
Main Street Relief Fund Round 3 Applications Open for Bars in Partnership with Seagram’s 7 #KeepTheDiveAlive Campaign
With the support of Seagram’s 7, Main Street Alliance has opened a third round of our small grant direct support fund to make as much impact as possible for those who have not yet been able to access federal relief.
But we also know one relief fund will never be enough. Progress has been made through tireless and continuous advocacy to drive longer-term, comprehensive support through Congress, for all small businesses, but small businesses need grants to survive and truly recover.
Bipartisan Deal a Positive Step Forward, but Not the Only Step Needed

On the announcement of a bipartisan deal for infrastructure investments, Co-Executive Directors of the Main Street Alliance Chanda Causer and Stephen Michael had this to say:
“Small businesses are applauding the step towards critical investment in our roads, bridges and broadband networks, which will support entrepreneurs across the country. But we know these aren’t the only critical needs for small businesses. Investment in our care infrastructure, including a comprehensive paid family and medical leave program, and affordable, quality child care, must move along in tandem to this deal. One without the other will not ensure an equitable or sustainable recovery.

In time for National Dive Bar Day this summer, Seagram’s 7 Crown American Blended Whiskey is raising a glass to small businesses, including dive bars, across the country by teaming up with actor and comedian, Iliza Shlesinger, to launch the brand’s new “Keep the Dive Alive” campaign. As part of the platform, Seagram’s 7 will release a series of tongue-in-cheek ‘training materials’ featuring Iliza that support the reopening of small businesses, including local dive bars, that bring moments of cohesion and celebration to our communities.
